The 416 is the mini shotgun and the larger one is the 816. Both require phantom power either from a seperate battery box or from an SQN mixer.

    Cool

It was an MKE300. They use LR44 batteries.

I'm looking for advice on which mic to use. I know the sennheiser range are good, I've used them before, but I can't remember the model number.

    Hi,

It maybe the Sennheiser MKH 20, you are looking for, but these ?1,900 a pair. A good alternative are Sennheiser K6/ME62 at around ?600 a pair and you can change the head, so you can use the same K6 module with a ME66 as your gun mic

    A word of advice:

Rent a microphone. They are not at all expensive (perhaps ?5-10 per day for a top quality one that would cost you upwards of ?1000 to buy)

A good place to contact is Stage Electric. Although there are probably dozens of places in London that you could try.
